"I am so THANKFUL I get to have these pictures for a lifetime!! I love how you captured so much of the birth so I dont forget any of it. I truly love birthing my babies and this so reminds me of that. Even with the pictures where I was in pain I remember "the joy that was before me" in my mind... I get that same feeling f finishing a long race that I wanted to give up in and Im so grateful for the push to endure .. and then the end Im holding my prize.." ~ Chauntel
What is a Doula?
Doulas nurture and support the birthing person throughout labor and birth. Their essential role is to provide continuous labor support to the mother, no matter what decisions the mother makes or how she gives birth. The word doula is a Greek word meaning women’s servant. Women have been serving others in childbirth for many centuries and have proven that support from another woman has a positive impact on the labor process.
Today, doulas are paid professionals who are highly educated and skilled to provide unbiased, emotional, physical, and educational support. Many doulas take extensive trainings and receive certifications from organizations with high standards. "Research shows that childbirth does go more smoothly with a doula: labor is 25 percent shorter, the need for epidural pain relief is 60 percent less and the Caesarean section rate is reduced by half." —Susan Gilbert
